Forsyth Park Fountain in Savannah, Georgia painted in gouache on watercolor paper.
The beautiful Forsyth Park fountain is one of Savannah‘s most well-known icons. Located on the north end of the park, the fountain is one of the most photographed places in Savannah. The fountain was erected in 1858.
Fun fact: The fountain is not unique. It was ordered from a catalogue! Similar fountains exist in New York, Peru and France.
I was born on Hunter Army Airfield and lived in Savannah (except for about a year in Panama) until age 24. I never did any of the touristy things until the past year when we have gone on a walking ghost tour, took a horse-drawn carriage ride, and stayed on River Street with an awesome view of the cargo ships. When deciding which classic Savannah image I wanted to create the Forsyth Park Fountain was the first thing that came to mind. My wife captured the photo I used for reference on a recent visit.
